The most recent Statistics Canada numbers show Saskatchewan's unemployment rate is the lowest in the country for the eighth straight month despite increasing to 4.2 per cent from 4 per cent in July.
The national unemployment rate dropped slightly to 7.1 per cent.
August employment numbers saw an increase of 15,800 people working compared to the same month last year. This 2.9 per cent gain was the second highest in the country.
Employment for aboriginal people is also showing strong gains with an additional 5,100 aboriginal people working off reserve compared to the same time last year marking a 12.9 per cent increase.
The youth employment rate also increased by 4,800 jobs compared to August 2012.
