Bell-Chambers A 2008 “City annexation to shrink Corman Park”, Country Press 10 December

The City of Saskatoon will be absorbing large sections of the RM of Corman Park in 2008.  “The city’s annexation plan covers 10,250 acres, one quarter of the city’s current land mass.”

“Scheduled for early 2009, the first phase of the city’s annexation plan shows an extension to the north industrial area at the north end and a broad swath of land east of the current city limits.  The city intends to annex the area out to the route for the perimeter highway.”

The northern extension will take the city limits closer to Warman, Martensville and Dalmeny.

“The second phase, expected to occur in more than one stage, would include land north of the city between Highways 12 and 16.  It also foresees more growth to the northeast between Highway 41 and the river.”

The northeast growth comprises the largest portion of the annexation.  The RM and Town of Aberdeen seem poised to benefit greatly, as this annexation will take the Saskatoon city limits almost all of the way to the RM of Aberdeen’s western boundary.  This should undoubtedly positively affect real estate prices and demand in the town and RM. 

“The area proposed for annexation will provide room for 250,000 people.”

The annexed land will provide enough room for the City of Saskatoon to more than double its population.
