Oil And Gas Drilling Expected To Increase

Oil, Gas drilling expected to increase, The StarPhoenix, 1 Feb 2011

Saskatchewan should see an 11 per cent increase in oil and gas drilling in 2011 to 3,075 wells, the highest percentage increase among the four producing provinces, says the Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC).

In its updated forecast released Monday, Calgary-based PSAC said rising oil prices and the Bakken light oil play in southeastern Saskatchewan were the main reasons for the double-digit increase in Saskatchewan's forecasted drilling activity.

Across Canada, PSAC is forecasting a new total of 12,750 wells drilled for 2011, an increase of 500 wells or four per cent from PSAC's initial forecast released in early November.
